Draft. Anything marked “to be confirmed” is a business decision that hasn’t been made yet, and these pages still need a lawyer’s review before ScanPing takes an order.
Help
How can we help?
Setting up a sticker, where it goes, what happens when someone scans it, and what to do when something goes wrong.
Getting started
What’s in the pack?
Two stickers, one for the windscreen and one for the rear glass. Each has its own code.
Do I need to install an app?
No. ScanPing runs in your phone’s browser: sign in with your number and a one-time code, then add it to your home screen if you like. Whoever scans your sticker needs only their camera.
How do I activate a sticker?
Sign in, pick your vehicle, then scan the sticker or type the code printed on it. It takes about two minutes.
Can one account cover several vehicles?
Yes, as many as you like: cars, bikes and scooters, and commercial vehicles. Each gets its own stickers and its own scan history.
Where to stick it
Which side of the glass?
The inside of the glass, with the design and QR visible from outside.
Where on the windscreen?
A lower corner on the passenger side (the left, in India), where someone standing beside the car can reach it with a phone and it stays out of the driver’s view. Keep it clear of the black dotted border, tinted strips and the FASTag.
And on the rear glass?
A lower corner, clear of the demister lines, so someone behind the car can scan it too.
On a bike or scooter?
A flat, clean panel near the front, such as the visor or a side panel, that someone can reach without leaning over the seat.
How do I get it to stay on?
Clean the spot and let it dry. Then press the sticker on firmly, from the middle outwards, so no bubbles stay under it.
How do I know it works?
Scan it with your own phone once it’s on. You’ll see exactly what a stranger sees.
When someone scans
What does the person scanning see?
The sticker’s code and the actions you allow: message you, report a problem or raise an emergency. Never your plate or address, and your name or number only if you switch that on.
How will I be alerted?
Messages and reports land in your ScanPing inbox with the reason and urgency attached, next to the scan history for each vehicle. Phone notifications are rolling out; until they reach you, open ScanPing to see anything waiting.
Can I reply?
Yes. You reply in ScanPing and they see it on the same page. The conversation stays open for 24 hours, then closes by itself, and neither of you sees the other’s number.
What if someone pranks or spams me?
Each person can send only a few messages an hour, and bursts of scans are flagged. You can also switch off messages, callbacks or reports in Settings whenever you like.
Emergencies
ScanPing is not an emergency service. If someone is hurt or in danger, call 112 first.
What happens when someone opens an emergency case?
They get a case number and the local emergency number to call. You’re told even if you’ve switched reports off, and your emergency contact gets a text.
Who is my emergency contact, and what are they told?
One person you choose, in Settings. Their text gives your vehicle’s nickname, what the person who scanned said, and the case number. It has no link and nothing about the person who scanned, and the person who scanned never sees who your contact is.
Privacy and safety
Is it safe to scan a ScanPing sticker?
Yes. A ScanPing page never asks for payment, a password or an app download, and the owner never sees your number. If a page does ask, it isn’t ScanPing, so close it.
Can I show my name or number?
Yes, in Settings. Both stay hidden until you switch them on.
What does ScanPing keep about someone who scans?
When they scanned and which sticker, their network address and kind of device, and what they chose to send, plus their location only if they shared it. The privacy policy has the detail.
Your account
Can I change my number?
Not yet. Moving to a new number without replacing your stickers is on the way. If your number has already changed, message support.
What if I sell my vehicle?
Message support and we’ll unlink the sticker the same day, so nobody can reach you through it again. Unlinking it yourself in the app is on the way.
I’ve lost my phone. What now?
Sign in on another device and sign the lost one out in Settings. If you’ve lost the number too, message support.
How do I close my account?
In Profile. Closing signs you out on every device, and you can’t sign back in with that number yourself afterwards. It doesn’t erase your data; to have it erased, email us (see your rights).
Orders, delivery and returns
How long does delivery take?
3–7 working days after dispatch, to addresses in India. The shipping policy has the rest.
Can I return a pack?
Not for a change of mind: each sticker has its own QR code and is made to be stuck on once. If a pack arrives damaged, wrong or a sticker won’t scan, we’ll replace it or refund you. The refund policy has the details.
Can I buy for a society, office or fleet?
Yes. Tell us how many vehicles and we’ll sort out printing, activation and a single invoice.
