Terms

Last updated 1 October 2026

The rules for using ScanPing, from either side of the sticker, and for buying a pack.

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and SCANPING (proprietorship of Subhadip Das) (“ScanPing”, “we”). They apply when you use ScanPing, whether you own a sticker or scan one, and when you buy a pack. Using ScanPing means you accept them.

The privacy policy, refund policy and shipping policy are part of these terms.

Who can have an account

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • The account is yours alone, tied to a mobile number you can receive texts on.
  • Link a sticker only to a vehicle you own or are allowed to use.

Your account

  • You sign in with a one-time code texted to your number. Anyone holding your phone can sign in as you, so keep it locked.
  • You’re responsible for what happens in your account. If you lose your phone or your number, sign out your devices in Settings and tell us.
  • If your number changes, message support.

Stickers

  • Each sticker has a code, and once you link it, that code leads to your account.
  • Put it where it doesn’t block the driver’s view and where the law allows. See where to stick it.
  • If you sell the vehicle or stop using it, ask us to unlink the sticker. Until then, messages through it keep reaching you.
  • Don’t copy a sticker’s code or change what it points to.

Using ScanPing fairly

Whether you own a sticker or scan one, don’t:

  • harass, threaten or abuse anyone;
  • send spam, or scan a sticker again and again to annoy its owner;
  • open a false emergency case or make a false report;
  • pretend to be ScanPing, or to be someone you aren’t;
  • try to find out an owner’s number or identity; or
  • try to break, overload or get around ScanPing’s limits.

We can limit messages, block scans from a device or network, and suspend or close accounts that do these things.

A ScanPing page never asks for payment, a password or an app download. A page that does isn’t ours.

Emergencies

ScanPing is not an emergency service. If someone is hurt or in danger, call 112 first. An emergency case tells the owner and their nominated contact, and shows you the local emergency number, but we don’t send help and can’t promise anyone sees the case in time.

Messages and alerts

Messages, texts and notifications depend on phones, networks and the companies that carry them. We work to deliver every one, but we can’t promise that each arrives, or when, or that it’s read. Phone notifications are still rolling out; until they reach you, open ScanPing to see what’s waiting.

What you send

You’re responsible for what you write and share through ScanPing. You let us store it and pass it to the people it’s meant for, which is what it takes to run the service. We can remove anything that breaks these terms.

Prices, orders and payment

  • Prices are shown on the site before you pay. A pack has two stickers, one for the windscreen and one for the rear glass.
  • Whether a pack comes with a GST invoice: not at present.
  • Delivery, cancellations and returns follow the shipping and refund policies.

Changes and availability

We may change, add or remove features, and ScanPing may sometimes be unavailable while we fix or improve it. We’ll try to keep that short.

Closing an account

You can close your account in Profile at any time. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where the law requires it.

Our responsibility to you

ScanPing is a way to get a message to someone. We aren’t responsible for what anyone does after reading one, for a message that doesn’t arrive, or for losses that don’t follow directly from something we did.

As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant product or service. Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes go to the courts at Bongaon, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, so does the date at the top. If you keep using ScanPing afterwards, the new terms apply.
